Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Support Coordinator?

A Support Coordinator will help you navigate the NDIS and connect you with NDIS providers, community and other government services. They will help build your confidence and skills and hold your best interests as a priority. Karri is committed to you thriving, living your best life while utilising NDIS plan resources.

What is your onboarding process?
  1. Karri will have a free 15-minute phone call with you and/or your plan nominee to discuss where you are in your journey with the NDIS and what your needs are.
  2. After your formal consent, please forward Karri a copy of your NDIS plan.
  3. Karri will send you a service agreement to formalise the engagement and schedule the first meeting.
  4. The initial consultation will take place with you and your family, plan nominee or support team. During this meeting, Karri will listen to your concerns and challenges, go through the plan and work out your needs. She will help devise a course of action that provides the assistance and support you need.
Are you a registered provider with the NDIS?

No. Karri is an independent support coordinator and sole trader, working with plan-managed and sometimes self-managed participants. This maximises your choice and control and takes away any conflict of interest. She has regular independent professional supervision.

What if my current supports are NDIS-managed?

It is often possible to change supports to become plan or self-managed. This can be discussed with Karri in your initial call or your NDIS planner.

What is the difference between a Support Coordinator and a Recovery Coach?

As a Support Coordinator, Karri helps build your capacity and capability as an NDIS participant. In this role, she will help you understand and use your plan to pursue your goals. She will connect you to the appropriate services and help monitor your plan and budget.

Recovery Coaching is for you if your primary disability is of a Psychosocial nature. It fulfils similar roles as Support Coordinator but uses a different approach.

In this role, she will spend time with you and your support team/family, helping you develop recovery-enabling relationships and supporting you to build capacity.

Can I have both? Yes, depending on the situation. NDIS often supports Recovery Coaching only for participants with Psychosocial Disability as there is overlap in the roles.

Things have changed in my life, and I think I need a new NDIS plan. Can you help with that?

Yes. Karri can help you apply for a ‘change of circumstances’ and then a review of your plan, if necessary.

I notice you cover the Cockburn, Melville and Fremantle regions. Are you able to help me if I live outside these city regions or in a remote community?

Remote/country/online and phone based Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching option available on a case by case basis.

I would like help navigating the NDIS. What if I don’t have a plan yet?
